INTERNSHIP PHASE-1

REFLECTIVE JOURNAL WEEK 1 

As a part of B.Ed. curriculum, we eleven student teachers of Sree Narayana Training College Nedunganda went to Sree Chithiravilasom Boys High School, Chirayinkeezhu for our internship phase 1. Our group consists of three students from English, three students from Physical Science, two students from Social Science, three students from Natural Science. The first phase of our internship started on14th July 2025.

INTERNSHIP PHASE 1

DAY 1

14/07/2025

SCVBHS CHIRAYINKEEZHU

Today was our first day of internship phase 1. SCVBHS Chirayinkeezhu was allocated for us. We a group

a group of student teachers from English optional, Natural Science optional, Social Science optional and Physical Science optional were there. We had reached school there by 9.00 AM and met the school headmistress Mrs. Ajithakumari. And then we handed over consent letter to her. After that we signed our morning attendance. Then headmistress allocated staffroom for us. Then we met our concerned teachers and collected the timetable.

After the first bell I was assigned with the duty to invigilate unit test for class 7A. I entered the class and wrote down the questions on the blackboard. The students were quiet a handful. The duration of the exam started from 9.30AM TO 10.15AM. of the student sang a song of rapper Vedan. It was quiet beautiful. After that we got morning interval and school teachers provided us with tea and snacks. After that interval, some of our friends were assigned with their classes. And we had a lunch break at 12.20pm to 1.00pm. 8D. It was an English unit test. Aiswarya wrote down the questions on the blackboard. At the beginning the students were hard to manage, but then we managed it well. After that exam we collected the answer sheets and handed over to the concerned teacher. 

Then I got the class 8B. This was the class I got in this phase to take the class. Since it was the first class, there was only a general introduction and rapport with the students. In between my friend Athira from Physical Science optional, also came to conduct interactive games along with me in this class. First of all we distributed small pieces of cards and ask them to write down their names, after that they have to fold it and handed over to us. And then we randomly chose a card and called one of the student and they were asked to solve the games. It was highly engaging as well as thoughtful games. Students were enjoyed it well. When the game sessions was over we asked the remaining students to introduce themselves.

The last hour, 8th period, the entire school celebrated a program titled BASHEERDINA PARIPADIKAL, a tribute to Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer. In this program students were presented speech on the rememberance of Basheer. Sulthan', paintings. These illustrations were presented by the students. and they were apinted by the school art education teacher, Abhilash sir. Those pictures were really meaningful. The teachers were so- supportive to the students. We took photographs of this programme. By 3.45pm the final bell rang.

                      

 

  

About the class

Since it was first and first class of our internship phase 1, I didn't follow the lesson plan today. I had my first class at 8B, during 7th period. The class had the strength of 34 students and it was English medium class, I just introduced myselfand created a rapport with them, Soon my friend also joined to interact with this class and we created interest interest in them. Through these games I that understood my children have a basic knowledge. The school, overall atmosphere was quiete good. But there was ICT Bnnand absence of projector in our class even though the students were instructed in ICT based learning.

Overall my first class experience at this school was quiet impressive which ended up having hope of interactive sessions on the coming days.

DAY 2   

15-07-2025

 Today was the second day internship phase 1 at SCVBHS Chirayinkeezhu and as usual we reached the school quiet earlier. After some time headmistress also arrived at school. And then we signed our morning attendance. Soon after the prayer I was assigned to conduct unit test (Social Science) for class 6A. When I reached the class there were only few students were there in that class. teacher told me to go and said that he will manage the class. Just after the first interval , third period I took a class on my allocated class 8B. At first I felt little nervous and bit anxiety to take the class. At the beginning of the class, a few students arrived late during the class, however I managed the situation well. Their concerned teacher had also come to observe my class. students respond. The interesting fact is that ,all students will respond to the teacher's activities. Afternoon a short film was screened to the students. Seventh period I went to observe the class of Anjali in 8D. She conducted several experiments related to Chemistry. Students were eagered to listen to such experiments. At last class hour were ended at 3.45pm with national anthem.

DAY 3

16/07/2025

Today was the third day of our teaching practice . We reached the school at 7.45am . The school security uncle welcomed as with warm good morning . The day was cloudy. After 9am, we the student teachers signed our attendance register . We the student teachers ate our lunch. After lunch break I was assigned to substitution class for 9C. I gave the students activity to read the lesson from English textbook. Students were very supportive. Most of the students read the text very fluently, but two or three students found it hard to speak in English and read the text. At last the class hour ended at 3.45pm with national anthem.

DAY 4

17/07/2025

It was the fourth day of our internship. WE reached the school at 8.30 am. As usual we got a warm welcome from our security uncle. At 9.30 am we signed our attendance register. First two periods I was assigned with exam duty for class 9A. It was Maths unit test. . Social Science optional teacher who came to observe her concerned class trainees also joined with us in lunch break. After the lunch break, I again got exam duty in class 9B. It was the Biology unit test. Students were little bit noisy, but we managed it well. Sixth and seventh period I didn't get any classes   . the class hour ended at 3.45pm with national anthem.

DAY 5

18/07/2025

It was the fifth day of internship. We reached the by 7.40 am, There was a strike arranged by KSU today. On reaching the school gate, the security uncle informed that there was no school bus today and the students won't be arriving and he asked us to call the headmistress and ask whether we should stay or not. Then I called the headmistress and informed the matter. Teacher informed us that classes are not being conducted today and told us to leave today's class. Soon I informed our concerned internship phase head Chithra ma'am. Then we left the school at 8.00am based on her instructions.
